There are tuning tools… and then there’s WinOLS.
If you’re looking for true control of calibration data, whether you’re working on diesel, gasoline or both, EVC WinOLS is the gold standard for tuners building real custom software from the ground up. But that level of control comes with a learning curve. Our WinOLS in-person training pathway is designed to flatten that curve and give you the practical knowledge to build, refine, and commercialise your own ECU calibration solutions using WinOLS.
This isn’t a classroom full of theory with a few PowerPoint slides and vague suggestions. This is structured, hands-on WinOLS training, led by experienced tutors who write and sell tuning files professionally. Each session is in-person, in English, and built around live examples and walkthroughs in the WinOLS software environment – not just demo files or tutorials.
Available WinOLS Course Levels
Whether you’re just starting out or looking to unlock advanced map control, our WinOLS training courses are offered across three progressive levels. Each one is fuel-type specific (Diesel, Gasoline or Combined) and is delivered with a practical, tutor-led structure in small groups to ensure tailored feedback and support.
WinOLS Beginner Level
For newcomers to tuning or WinOLS. You’ll learn:
- WinOLS software interface, functions, and project creation
- Reading and interpreting ECU files
- Identifying key maps (torque, boost, fuelling, etc.)
- Understanding ECU map structure and axis logic
- Creating safe and effective Stage 1 tuning files
Pre-qualify: No previous WinOLS experience required, but basic ECU knowledge helps. If you’re starting completely from scratch, we may recommend our Tuning Fundamentals session first.
WinOLS Intermediate Level
For tuners already using WinOLS who want to push beyond the basics. You’ll learn:
- Customising map strategies and understanding map interdependencies
- Editing and refining file logic (beyond pre-built map packs)
- Basic feature additions (hard cut limiter, overrun, eco tuning)
- Common mistakes and how to identify faults in modified files
- Creating your own base files and repeatable strategies
Pre-qualify: You must have completed the Beginner WinOLS Course or be actively using WinOLS with confidence in project handling and basic file editing.
WinOLS Advanced Level
For experienced calibrators delivering bespoke and hardware-tuned solutions. You’ll learn:
- Creating files for modified vehicles (turbo upgrades, injectors, etc.)
- Full manual axis scaling and map creation
- Strategies for unsupported ECUs and non-driver-based projects
- Developing your own map packs and commercial tuning file library
- Emissions control strategies, race-only applications, and system deletions (DPF, EGR, AdBlue)*
Pre-qualify: You must have completed the Intermediate WinOLS Course and be working on live tuning projects or customer vehicles. If unsure, we’re happy to assess your current level.
